A room with a view, the Paper Wasp.

YouTube user Vang Tsal was able to get up close and personal with an insect that often makes people run in fear, the Paper Wasp.  On a window of his home a wasp colony began constructing their intricate home, this gave a rare view to the inner workings of a wasp’s nest.

Paper Wasps are fascinating creatures, they are are 0.7 to 1.0 inch long and gather fibers from dead wood and plane stems, which they mix with saliva, and use to construct water-resistant nests made of gray or brown papery material.

Check out the series of photos below of a paper wasp constructing the wall of it’s colony, notice in photo 6 the larva that lives in each honeycomb section.
